Sat 28/6 - Excellent news from M&S and their contribution to the sustainable challenge. Full cycle PET/HDPE plastics use, with Zero landfill, is attainable. Keeping the process within the UK is an added bonus.

Fri 11/7 - Sainsbury's have recently joined the challenge by appointing a sustainability co-ordinator. Their advertised use of unpackaged veg/fruit is welcome news to Zero Waste enthusiasts.

Sat 18/7 - Junk-mail contributes to home bin waste. Yet another example of the unthinking use of plastic. We should try to minimise its impact.

Wed 23/7 - Landfill raises its ugly head again. At St.Andrews a disused site threatens beach, river and Golf interests. This highlights the unsustainability of the process. The Elgin Landfill reclaim last year was another indicator but information from there is limited.

Fri  1/8 - Christine Jeavans is running A Month Without Plastic blog on BBC News. I think this will highlight the difficulties of living without the material. Alternatives to plastic may emerge which will help people reduce their waste. Wooden toothbrushes are a good example. I have happily used 1 for several weeks.

Sat  9/8 - Tesco's TOMRA facility initiative is a potential way to recycle more household plastic waste, an excellent addition to kerbside collections. Superstores making efforts to reduce waste is most welcome.
